Leadership team takes shape at High Peak Borough Council

Labour celebrating victory in High Peak at the local elections earlier in May.

The leadership team at High Peak Borough Council has been expanded following the recent elections.

The Labour group took 29 of the 43 seats available and strengthen its hold on the authority.

At the annual meeting, it was confirmed that Councillor Anthony Mckeown will remain as Leader of the Council, with Councillor Damien Greenhalgh staying as Deputy Leader.

The Executive members also remain the same, with Fiona Sloman overseeing housing, Jean Todd climate change and environment, and Alan Barrow finance.

They have been joined by newly elected Godfrey Claff, who will be overseeing community safety and planning.

Also introduced are two completely new roles to support the Executive Team. The positions of Assistance Executive Members have been given to Matt Taylor and Rob Baker.

High Peak Borough Council also has a voice on a number of outside bodies. Councillors Ian Huddlestone and Charlotte Farrell have been appointed as the council's representatives at the Peak District National Park Authority.

New executive member Cllr Claff has been appointed as HPBC’s member of the Police and Crime Panel that scrutinise the Police and Crime Commissioner, with Cllr Barrow appointed a substitute member of the panel.
