GALLERY: Art on show in Hadfield

Hundreds of people enjoyed viewing work by talented local amateur artists, showcased at the 11th Hadfield Art Exhibition over the bank holiday weekend.

There was a great variety of work on display in terms of subject matter, style and medium - and the overall standard was very high.

Judge Jean Hobson had the difficult job of picking the winners from more than 200 pictures.

First prize went to Rod Holt with 'Jilted John' (Gouache), 2nd was Gavin Parkin with 'To Manchester Down The Ashton Canal' (mixed Media) while Gwen Osbaldeston was 3rd with 'A View of Glossop from Chunal' (Acrylic).

The Textile Prize went to Amy Osbaldeston with 'Shirehill From Simmondley' (Collage & Free Embroidery) with the Photography Prize going to Adrian O'Toole. The Peoples' vote was won by Steve Ridgway.

The Pro Loco - open air painting competition - was won by Betty Dewey, while Gavin Parkin and Paul Freeman tied in second place.

This was the second Hadfield Pro Loco and proved to be a very popular event, with nine artists submitting work which was judged by the public.

A Children's Exhibition featuring artwork created by youngsters aged 16 and under was also held at The Craft Barn. Read more about that here.
