Young racer Thomas has kicked off 2023 in the best possible way, with a victory in the first meeting of the year in the Total Karting Zero winter championship.

Competing at the Rye House circuit in Hertfordshire, known for being the place where Lewis Hamilton learnt his trade, it was going to take a special drive by all the young talented drivers on display, given the appalling weather conditions they had to contend with.

Qualifying in second place, Thomas entered in to a two way fight with title rival Ethan who had already secured victory at the first round in December. Ethan’s impressive drive from pole meant he maintained the lead in the pre-race, with Thomas coming home in second place. So he knew that he would need an extra push going into the race.

Ethan again held the lead from the start but this time Thomas kept the pressure on through the opening laps, and when that pressure led to a slight mistake, Thomas was able to pounce to take the lead, a lead that he built on lap by lap to eventually cross the line victorious and with well over 10 seconds ahead.

It was a mighty impressive drive to keep the high standards that he had set himself during his championship success last season and a 10th consecutive podium place finish.

Next round of the championship is a return to Whilton Mill in Northamptonshire on the 4 February with the championship hitting the mid-way point.
