Young Dukinfield dancer earns a national championship title

Champion Trey!

Finding a love for music and dance at a young age, Dukinfield dancer Treyston Braine has watched his dreams come true after winning a British championship title.

Inspired by hip-hop icons such as Usher and Chris Brown, 9-year-old Treyston has found a huge talent for dance and performing. Impressing the judges with his incredible skills, Trey has been awarded a prestigious title, SOAR U10 Advanced British Champion.

Training at 0161 Studios in Manchester, Trey qualified for the SOAR British Championships in dance after amazing the crowd at the North West Championships. Placing 1st here, he was given the opportunity to compete on the national stage.

Arriving at the finals at the iconic Blackpool Tower Ballroom, Trey was beyond excited to begin dancing and show what he was made of.

When his turn arrived in the freestyle dance final, it was clear he was going to be crowned champion.

Hearing his name announced as the winner was a fantastic experience for Trey, who has dreamed of being a performer for as long as he can remember.

“Before he could even walk, Trey loved music. He would often sit in his highchair and dance to music.

“Then, as he got older, he started watching Usher and Chris Brown on YouTube and taught himself dances,” says mum, Naomi Middleton.

Having a natural talent for the stage, Trey was given a huge opportunity when he was spotted at a children’s party.

“We were at a party, and he started dancing, everybody started to film him. From this, a lady approached me and asked if she could sign him up to her modelling agency.

“At the time I thought she was just being polite, but within a week he was signed up and modelling for JD Sports,” Naomi says.

Modelling since he was 5-years-old, Trey loves to be in front of the camera and has had some incredible experiences.

After making his mark in the modelling world, the family were told about 0161 Studios, and from there Treyston’s talent has soared.

Thriving as a singular dancer, Trey is also part of a team at his studios named NORTHSIDE. Full of amazing young performers, the team was also able to take home a win at the British Championships, being awarded 1st place in the U10 team category.

Flourishing in his sport, Trey is now preparing to perform at the Lowry where he will star in a performance of North Side Story. This adaptation from West Side Story will see Trey playing the lead male role of Tony.

His mum, Naomi, says he is often stopped everywhere he goes and was just recently called upon by one of his favourite celebrities.

“A few weeks ago, we were watching Trey Songz at the MEN arena. While the singer was on stage, he noticed Trey in the audience dancing and singing along.

“Because of this, he pointed him out and all the crowd turned to watch him. When the set finished, the singer asked his bodyguard to find Trey and bring him backstage as he wanted to meet him.

“This was such a special moment for my son, and he was so pleased when he was brought backstage.”

The Lyndhurst Community Primary pupil dreams of one day performing at the MEN arena, touring the UK with his own songs and dances.

Trey has shown such fantastic talent at a young age, impressing everyone he meets.
