Our sides returned to action on Saturday in various competitions.
In the FA Cup fourth qualifying round, Curzon Ashton and Hyde United were looking to book their place in the first round proper. Unfortunately, only Curzon managed to do so following a 1-0 victory at Peterborough Sports. Hyde put in a valiant display at Buxton but were undone in the 83rd minute when the Bucks scored the decisive goal in a 2-1 victory.
All eyes now turn to the first round draw on Monday evening, as Curzon will be hoping for a lucrative draw against a Football League outfit. Curzon's victory at Peterborough secured a further £9,375 in prize money.
Elsewhere, a tasty derby at Hurst Cross saw Stalybridge Celtic fall to their seventh consecutive defeat as Ashton United ran out 2-1 winners. The Robins are now ninth in the table whilst Celtic are just one point above the relegation zone.
In the NPL West, Mason Fawnes' late equaliser gave Mossley a share of the points in a 1-1 draw against Clitheroe, whilst Glossop North End welcomes non-league giants Macclesfield to the Amdec Forklift Stadium and fell to a 2-1 defeat. A crowd of 1,015 attended the game. The result keeps Macclesfield at the top of the table and Glossop in ninth spot. Mossley are third in the table and just three points below leaders Macclesfield.
In the Cheshire Football League, League One, Denton Town returned from Billinge empty handed after a 1-0 defeat. The result leaves Darren Saville's side in second spot.
