Redshaw To The Rescue

Hyde United opened their campaign in the NPL Premier Division last weekend with a 1-1- draw against Radcliffe.

It was an afternoon of drama at the Project Solar Stadium, as Jack Redshaw’s 90th minute strike gave the Tigers a share of the points on a stifling day in Tameside.

Hyde boss Nick Spooner, who penned a permanent, season-long deal in April, looked to be staring down the barrel of defeat; however Redshaw, who joined the club from Ashton United over summer, came to the rescue with a stunning effort outside the box to cancel out Courtney Meppen-Walter’s first half effort.

In the lead up to Saturday’s draw, Spooner announced three new signings to bolster his side.

Tay Trusty has joined the club on a one-month loan deal from Blackpool. The 18-year-old midfielder returns to the Project Solar Stadium for a second spell having made nine appearances at the end of last season.

Another midfielder to join is Kaleb Parkinson, who had a spell at Bury FC last season.

They are joined by forward Curtis Morrison, who had spells at a number of clubs including Gainsborough Trinity, Buxton, Guiseley and Matlock.

Full-time result: Hyde United 1-1 Radcliffe
