Non-league clubs to receive TV cash windfall

Clubs competing in the National League system will benefit from a cash windfall over the next four years.

It follows news that the Premier League has extended its contract with tv partners, Sky Sports, BT Sport, BBC Sport and Amazon Prime until 2025.

It's expected that 100m of funding will be available to the clubs in the National League system, women's and girls' football, as well as EFL League One and Two clubs.

This will impact our local clubs; Curzon Ashton; Ashton United; Stalybridge Celtic; Hyde United; Mossley; Droylsden; and Glossop North End.

Commenting on the news, Northern Premier League chairman Mark Harris told the NPL's website: "This is good news for non league football although we don’t yet have any details of what monies will filter down to NLS clubs, how or when.

"However the fact that, following the financial support our clubs received from the Premier League last autumn, our level of the game is again recognised shows that we are making progress."
