Match Report: Glossop North End vs New Mills

Glossop North End got back to winning ways after their defeat at the weekend with a 3-1 victory over New Mills in the Derbyshire Senior Cup.

The Hillmen found themselves in on goal just three minutes in when Jaques Etia found space in the penalty area, but his effort was a tame one which was straight at the goalkeeper.

The home side came close again moments later when Harry Freedman’s shot flew just over the crossbar.

North End finally managed to convert one of their opportunities with 15 minutes on the clock when Jacques Etia made up for his earlier miss and gave his side the lead, latching onto Harry Freedman’s cross from the right and smashing the ball home to put his side ahead.

The Millers then levelled up the scoring just before half-time when a long-range strike slipped beyond the grasp of Louis Hood in the North End goal to make it all square.

Richard Brodie’s men made the perfect start to the second half when Ryan Katumba popped up with a goal to put Glossop back in front.

The hosts were then dealt a huge blow with Joe Pennington was forced off which a lower leg injury, he was replaced by James Badrock.

GNE then sealed the win just minutes from time when Jaques Etia got his second of the evening, squeezing the ball in at the near post to make it 3-1, and seal his side's place in the next round of the Derbyshire Senior Cup.

Next up for the Hillmen in the league is a home match against Longridge Town on Tuesday (November 21).
