After securing a play-off position last week, Droylsden were looking to finish their season on a high, hoping to secure third spot in the league.
However, their opponents Cheadle Heath Nomads, who just missed out on the promotion places, came away with the win.
Droylsden named a fairly strong side, although they opted to name the midfield duo of Ben Lowe and Caelan Kilheeney on the bench. Along with Fuad Kasalai who had been missing for several weeks through injury.
After a slow start, it was the home side who had the best chance of the match, when a ball was squared into the box, but their forward was unable to finish from just outside the six-yard box.
Despite a quadruple change at half-time, it wasn’t enough for Droylsden to take the lead, but it was Cheadle Heath who struck first when Ryan Morton scored following a corner kick in the 77th minute.
A defeat means Droylsden cannot finish higher than fifth in the league table, a slight disappointment, but still a fantastic achievement for Dave Pace’s side in their return season.
The Bloods next travel to Chadderton in the Semi Final of the Macron Cup on Thursday night before their final league match of the season against Eccleshall.
