Glossop North End Community Club enter Manchester Football League

Glossop North End Community Club has been granted entry into The Manchester Football League approved for the 2023/24.

This will offer the club and its players even more opportunity to play football for their town and regular open age football in this highly respected and long-standing league. The club plans to add a reserve side the following season.

The club currently has 40 football and futsal teams from under 7 to Veterans with over 600 players. With Glossop Community Sports Hub opening later this year, giving its players a new home, the time to widen the football provision in the community could not have been better!

The club will continue to support and provide opportunities for players aspiring to play for Glossop North End AFC and “Be the best we can be” but is also keen to establish wider playing opportunities for the many junior players in Glossop who play or used to play for the club. Open Age football will also help younger players develop whilst continuing to offer a youth pathway through to under 18s football.

Ben Mills, Football Development Officer said “The move to Open Age football at the club has been much anticipated and is one of the final pieces in the club’s community offering. There are so many players in Glossop and the surrounding area who want to play for their town and hopefully we can now make this a reality for more players. It will also provide a platform for talented younger players to transition into the adult game, retain and nurture them to help them play at the highest level they can. Simply put more football for more people in the town is a good thing and supports the clubs and the FA’s aim to “Grow the game.”

Dave Rowlinson, Chairman commented “I am delighted to finally see a realistic open age offering at the club. I have seen so many junior players at the club leave, stop playing or talent end up playing out of the town and this will provide an excellent route to Open Age football. With the new Club House and 3G around the corner this is the perfect time to make this happen. My message to existing and former players is to come and play football for your town!”

The club is in the process of recruiting a coaching team who have or want to gain experience in open age football. If you would be interested in getting involved or to find out more, please call 07971117194.
