Ashton United have completed the permanent signing of Harry Bunn from National League North side Buxton.

The versatile midfielder/forward came through the youth ranks at Manchester City but didn't break through into the first team, spending loan spells at the likes of Rochdale and Crewe Alexandra instead.

The son of former Oldham Athletic stalwart Frankie Bunn, Harry has made close to 200 Football League appearances for clubs including Bury FC, Southend United, Huddersfield Town and Scunthorpe United.

The 30-year-old has made 24 outings for Buxton this season and now makes the move to Hurst Cross to join the Northern Premier League Premier Division outfit.

Manager Steve Cunningham described his arrival as "a coup for the football club".

The boss told Ashton United's website: "Harry is a local lad who lives very close to the ground. His footballing career speaks for itself.

"I am delighted to get Harry on board and it shows how exciting the Ashton United project is when attracting this calibre of player to the club. I'm sure the fans will be excited by this signing as we are as a club."

Buxton FC said in a statement: "Thanks Harry for your efforts this season and wishing you the best of luck for the future, from all at the club."
