Adam Lakeland leaves Curzon Ashton

Tameside Stadium, Curzon Ashton

Curzon Ashton have announced manager Adam Lakeland has departed the club after agreeing to join National League North rivals King's Lynn Town.

The 38-year-old joined The Nash in October 2021 and led the club to arguably their best-ever season last campaign, finishing just three points outside the playoff places, narrowly losing out on the final day.

Adam said in a statement, "To all the players, staff, supporters and volunteers at Curzon Ashton- thank you.

"It is and always will be a club I owe so much to and I wish you nothing but the best for the future.

"The opportunity to work with a full-time club and a chairman I instantly felt I could work with was something I couldn't turn down.

"Thanks to everyone who has called, messaged and commented, your support is humbly received and appreciated."

Assistant manager Sam Walker will also be departing the club, to join Adam in his new role.

Curzon have released a statement, thanking Adam for his efforts, "We would like to thank both Adam and Sam for their professionalism and work ethic at the club over the years."

For the 'foreseeable future' club captain Craig Mahon will become manager, whilst Jack Salkeld and Mark Bradshaw will assist him in taking the team forward.

New interim manager Craig Mahon said, "What an amazing opportunity and challenge for myself, Jack and Mark.

"We've got a great squad of players, who are also great people too.

"Everyone will play their part in keeping the momentum going."
