Walk this way as part of club's celebration

Walkers will be recreating the very first walk by the Manchester Pedestrian Club to mark 120 years of the club.

On Saturday, June 24, the walk from Hayfield to Castleton via Snake Pass will be held in celebration of the anniversary.

The re-enactment will follow most of the route of the original walk, however, since the Ladybower Reservoir now covers some of the original route, modifications have been made.

The route will be from Hayfield - Williams Clough - Snake Path - Ford - Concessionary Path - south side of Ladybower - Bamford - Castleton.

Since it was formed, the club has organised 5,000 walks of varying lengths, speeds and difficulties in and around the Manchester area.

Anyone interested in joining the walk can contact its organiser Dr Andrew Basden on 01928 733930 or the MPC at manchesterpedestrianclub@gmail.com or the website http://mpcwalking.org.uk/
