Residents throughout the High Peak are being urged to use the 61 bus service or risk losing it again.
The plea comes following confirmation from Hulleys of Baslow that the Sunday service is once more in danger, due to dwindling passenger numbers.
The Sunday 61 bus service is a vital form of connection for villages such as Chunal, Little Hayfield, Hayfield, Birch Vale, New Mills, Newtown, Furness Vale and Fernilee. It is also a valued servant of Whaley Bridge.
Dubbed a "lifeline" by one resident, the service, which has been plagued by staff absences and a lack of use, is in danger of discontinuance after the company said that "the passenger numbers will need to grow substantially".
After the Sunday 61 service, previously run by High Peak Buses, was discontinued earlier this year, it was re-introduced by Hulleys of Baslow.
The service has been running again from 26 March, and will continue to run for the immediate future, however the threat of discontinuance once more has been raised.
High Peak MP Robert Largan said: "I'm disappointed to hear that after we managed to work together and save the 61 bus service on Sundays, it is once more at risk.
“Public transport is a huge part of the lives of those in the High Peak, especially on a Sunday when services are often less frequent.
“Please show Hulleys of Baslow just how valuable this service is by using it. Increasing passenger numbers is the best way in which we can show how needed the service is!”
