Underwater theme for New Mills carnival 2023

The local New Mills carnival is happening on Saturday 10 June with the parade starting at 1pm.

The annual carnival is set to take place in just a few short weeks and this year's theme will transport visitors into an underwater adventure. With colourful coral reefs, playful dolphins and friendly sharks, it's sure to be an unforgettable experience for families and friends.

The parade begins at 1pm on Market Street and will wind its way down Union Road, Albion Road, and Wirksmoor Road before landing at Newtown recreation ground for the fair. There will be schools, nurseries, businesses, and local groups taking part.

Event manager Zena Aris-Sutton said “It’s a great community event when the town comes alive with activity, so don't forget to dress up in your best mermaid or pirate costume – there is even a contest for the most creative outfit! Mark your calendars for this exciting event that promises to be a splashing good time.”

The carnival field will feature classic rides and more at the funfair, such as FastTrack dodgems, Miami trip, Sizzler twist, Flying Jet ride, Trampolines, Disney Carousel, Cups & Saucers, Super slide, Monster trucks, Bungee trampolines, Fairground game stalls, Ice Cream Van, Fairground food, Candy floss, Doughnuts & Sweets. Live band music, the Zoppis funfair, a climbing wall, circus academy, jugglers, artisan food and drink, as well as plenty of market stalls and the largest food court area we’ve ever had. Attractions for all ages.

They express their gratitude to everyone who put in many hours this year to organise the carnival, including all the companies who contributed by sponsoring the event.

Motorists are being warned that several roads in the centre of New Mills will be closed for the parade.
