Work on developing Eason House and its spacious grounds has opened up sights of the one-time 'baronial mansion' that haven't been seen in decades.
A huge tree pruning and felling operation has revealed the true size of the former home of mill-owning Francis Sumner and Lord Doverdale which was built in the 1840s.
With landscaped gardens, a stable block fronted by a cobbled forecourt the High Street East mansion was once one of the most impressive dwellings in Glossop, even the High Peak.
Served by servants and coachmen, the lavishly furnished house, welcomed the great and the good in its 'hay day'.
The entrance hall had a. sweeping staircase topped by a stained glass window, a ballroom, entertaining rooms with marble fireplaces.
When the nobility moved out Easton House became the offices of rubber manufactures on nearby 'Mill Town', the stable block becoming the mill's social club.
When Volcrepe moved out and Easton Has became empty, vandals moved in, damage was caused and some items removed.
Now the complex is getting a new life, with houses and apartments planned.
