The Glossop Victorian and Heritage Weekend is back this summer

Step back in time for the Glossop Victorian and Heritage Weekend this summer.

The event takes place over three days: Friday 31st May, Saturday 1st June and Sunday 2nd June. On Friday, event goers will have the opportunity to visit the local craft Beer Tent with over 30 real ales as well as a gin & cocktail bar. There will be a selection of local artisan food stalls with delicious BBQs and nibbles and all the fairground rides will be open. You can then end the afternoon by watching a selection of live entertainment with period music, singers and dancers.

Saturday brings a Victorian parade with Manchester pipe band, traction engines, shire horses, Morris dancers and floats. There will be best dressed, best float and best shop competitions as well as a selection of vintage vehicles on display, kids entertainment and a wide range of food and drink stalls.

Sunday begins with a multi faith church service followed by the Dark Peak Music Foundation. Like the other days, there will be a selection of vintage entertainment, bars, food stalls, re-enactors and shire horse rides.

Paul Hitchen from the Glossop Heritage Weekend is urging local businesses to sponsor the upcoming event, he said: “Towns everywhere are struggling, but here in Glossop we are lucky to have a vibrant high st.  But we all must work to keep it alive.  The unpaid volunteers of the Glossop heritage Weekend are doing just that. This event attracts people from all over, there are even coach companies providing trips to the event from the midlands and south east! This brings much needed visitor income to Glossop. To pledge support to the event please email info@glossopheritageweekend.org. The event is provided by local unpaid volunteers and the Round Table. Every penny pledged to the event raises goes directly to event costs.  Put your business in front of tens of thousands of grateful locals and visitors and show them you support your local town."

Debra Kelly who is the partner and Head of Davis Blank Furniss Glossop added: “Glossop Heritage Weekend is a fantastic event and one that we are delighted to be sponsoring. The cost-of-living crisis - along with high business costs - are having an impact on us all, but we passionately believe that supporting grassroots initiatives like this is very important. They of course bring the community together, but they also bring money into the town. This year’s Heritage Weekend is set to welcome thousands of people to Glossop so we would encourage other local companies and venues to get involved to ensure the event is financially viable and is the success it truly deserves to be.”
