Glossop’s League of Ladies WI celebrated their seventh birthday in style when they presented a bumper cheque to charity Mummy’s Star.
The League raised the funds at a clothes swap and cream tea event, held earlier in the summer at St Mary’s Hall in Glossop.
Guests brought along their unwanted clothes, shoes and accessories and swapped them for something new while having the chance to enjoy a cream tea and take part in a raffle with prizes donated predominantly by League of Ladies members.
The event not only raised funds to support Mummy’s Star but also fitted within the WI’s environmental ethos of giving items a new lease of life and keeping them out of landfill. Any left over items on the day were donated to the local charity Crossroads. It was a great afternoon enjoyed by all
and a huge thank you goes to all who attended.
More recently, the League held a special cheque presentation to present the funds they had raised in the form of a giant cheque to Mummy’s Star founder, Pete Wallroth. Mummy’s Star is the only charity in the UK and Ireland dedicated to women diagnosed with cancer during pregnancy or within 12 months of giving birth, and their families.
