Prime Minister calls into The Commercial Inn in Glossop

Prime Minister Rishi Sunak paid a visit to Glossop last night.

The Prime Minister was accompanied by local MP Robert Largan as they presented the “High Peak Best Pub” award to The Commercial Inn on Manor Park Road.

Rishi and his wife stayed at the pub, speaking to local residents for around an hour.

Anthony and Leanne from The Commercial Inn said, “Rishi and wife were really lovely and chatty.”

The visit sparked controversy online with some Facebook users writing, "He should’ve come up to Carrbrook to see the devastation from last weeks tornado ... our houses ripped apart and he’s nowhere to be seen." and "Sunak and Largan are both grade A rats though."

However, many users also expressed their happinesses towards the pub winning the award, "Congratulations, this is so well deserved.", "Superb pub and well deserved." and "Well done, this is fantastic news."
