Popular coffee mornings to return to local hospice

Coffee mornings are making a long-awaited return to Blythe House Hospicecare in Chapel-en-le-Frith.

After a long hiatus, the hugely popular events will return from 10am to 12pm on the first Friday of every month – with the first one taking place on Friday 6th October.

The coffee mornings are an opportunity for anyone to call in for a hot drink, homemade cake and to meet and chat to friends and members of the expert hospice team.

Sophie Wheeldon, community fundraiser at Blythe House and Helen’s Trust, said: ‘We are so excited that our coffee mornings are coming back to the hospice. We know how much local people loved them, and have missed them, so it’s going to be wonderful to have them back!

‘The events are open to anyone to come and visit the hospice, to support the work that we do. There’ll be opportunities for you to raise vital funds, and have a look at our facilities and learn more about our services. We hope to help alleviate fears and improve perceptions of the hospice.

‘We’re so grateful that a team of incredible volunteers will be taking on the management of the events, so that all the money raised can be spent directly on local patient care. We look forward to welcoming everyone to the first event!’

Alex Clark has supported the hospice as volunteer since 2011, alongside her mum, Brenda Edge; auntie, Hilary Hadfield; and friend, Pauline O’Brien. The four dedicated volunteers will host the coffee mornings.

Alex, from Buxton, said: ‘Woohoo, coffee mornings are back! Having previously hosted a stall we are now very happy to be organising the coffee mornings on behalf of the hospice.

‘We are really looking forward to welcoming everyone back. We'll have delicious cakes, a raffle, jewellery, gifts and other goodies. I can't wait to see everyone.’
