Plans for telecommunication mast in Hadfield rejected

Plans for a 15-metre-high telecommunication mast to be put up in a highly prominent and sensitive location within the heart of the Hadfield Conservation Area have been rejected.

The application for a mast, wraparound base cabinet and associated works to be installed at Old Hall Square was submitted to High Peak Borough Council and prompted 186 letters of objection.

The proposals have been turned down as planning officers determined the public benefits associated with the introduction of 5G services did not outweigh the identified harm to heritage assets.

In their report they stated the siting, scale, height, and visual appearance of the development would harm the overall character and appearance of the street scene.
