National launch of Greenpeace film in Glossop

A meeting of the Warm Homes Whitfield group.

Members of 'Warm Homes Whitfield' will be out in Glossop on Friday afternoon (4 November) talking to shoppers about the cost of living crisis and their energy bills.

The group are calling on the government to give more support to the most vulnerable people and launch a major programme of insulation and retrofitting.

On 18 November, they will be showing a film at Pure Vibes in Whitfield about the cost of living crisis and how it could be tackled. The short film was made by Greenpeace and the showing in Glossop will be the first in the country.

Heather Williams, of the Great Homes Upgrade campaign, who features in the film, has worked with local green campaigners to set up the Whitfield group, which is now being led by local residents.

They say they have invited local MP Robert Largan to the film showing and to take part in a panel discussion.

On Friday afternoon they will be offering hot drinks to passers by and engaging them in conversation about the importance of insulating homes to tackle both the cost of living crisis and the climate crisis.
