Hope Valley College sees huge improvements in Oftsed report

Hope Valley College has been rated Good in every category by Ofsted.

This comes after it was previously rated Inadequate in December 2017 after their inspection raised concerns with effectiveness of leadership and management, quality of teaching, personal development, and outcomes for pupils.

The Ofsted report recognises the education establishment's 'ambitious and accessible' curriculum for all pupils, including those with SEND. Moreover, it was highlighted that teachers deliver this curriculum well and, as a result, 'most pupils achieve well'.

Following significant work by the leadership team, Robert Largan MP is pleased with the progress made to get the school back on track.

He said: "A huge well done to everyone at Hope Valley College, which has been rated ‘Good’ in every category by Ofsted.

"It’s only a few years ago that Hope Valley College was found to be ‘Inadequate’ by Ofsted. This turnaround in performance is impressive and hugely welcome.

"It’s great credit to the Principal, Mrs Gaynor Jones, and her team. Governors, the Academy Trust, pupils and parents have all played a vital role too.

"I’ve always enjoyed visiting and supporting Hope Valley College where I can, including helping with their successful bid for capital funding a couple of years ago. I’m thrilled they’ve got this official recognition!"

Hope Valley Pathways, the post-16 specialist SEND provision, also retains a ‘Good’ rating, as well as being described by students as being like “one big family”.
