Hayfield ready to celebrate May Queen Festival

The bunting has gone up ready for Hayfield to celebrate the annual May Queen Festival, which this year has a Disney theme.

Residents and businesses have been busy decorating their houses, windows, gardens, streets, shops, pubs and even lampposts.

The events start tonight (Thursday) with the arrival of the funfair, which will be open every day until Sunday 14 May.

On Saturday, children from Hayfield Primary School will be May Pole Dancing on the arena at the Old School Field at 12 noon.

The popular parade takes place starting at 1.30pm before ending at the May Queen Field for further celebrations including the crowning of this year’s royalty. There will also be a variety of stalls both before and after the parade and further entertainment.

Then on Sunday there will be a Food and Music Festival for all to enjoy.
