It is ‘Great Big Green Week’ and across the High Peak people are being encouraged to get involved in green activities and share what inspires them to tackle climate change.
From the Wildlife Trust’s ’30 Days Wild’ campaign challenging everyone to do one wild thing a day, to scavenger hunts in local parks, there’s plenty going on.
High Peak Borough Council’s Executive Councillor for Climate Change and the Environment, Jean Todd, said: “Our changing climate is something that affects us all so it’s important that our response to managing that change is also a collective effort.
“From reducing, re-using and recycling the things we no longer want to pledging action to reduce our individual carbon footprint, there are lots of easy things we can all do.
“So please take part in Big Green Week and 30 Days Wild, or just get out and about to enjoy the beautiful parks and open spaces here in the High Peak this June.”
This Saturday, 17th June Glossopdale Green Churches are running a Coffee Morning and ‘Letters to Tomorrow’ event.
Organisers are hoping to gather together like-minded people from the local community to talk about the climate crisis and become actively involved in campaigning for solutions.
The event takes place from 10am to 12.30pm at Glossop Central Methodist Church on Chapel Street.
