Grandparents Day celebrated by Hadfield Infant School

Students at Hadfield Infant School had the time of their lives as they were joined in the classroom by their grandparents for the day.

With a turnout of 140 grandparents, the event saw the group enjoying an afternoon tea and telling stories to one another.

Headteacher Francesca Dodd said: "We had such a wonderful turn out for our Grandparents Day. We were inundated with Grandparents.

"Throughout the year we have days set aside for Mothers and Fathers but it's also important to celebrate the other significant adults around us.

"As a school we felt it was important to acknowledge how special grandparents are and what a significant role they can play in young people's lives."

Mrs Ibbotson, another member of staff at the school, said: "This is the first ever Grandparents Day I have experienced at Hadfield Infant School. It was heartwarming to see what the impact Grandparents and grandchildren can have on each other."
