Glossop Furniture Project launches 'Making Ends Meet' initiative

Glossopdale Furniture Project has launched its latest project 'Making Ends Meet'.

The event, which took place from 23-25 June, was launched by the Mayor of the High Peak, Cllr Peter Inman in a ceremonial ribbon-cutting ceremony.

The event involved volunteers, staff and trustees at the project taking part in a sponsored walk around the High Peak, connecting towns and villages where GFP regularly delivers emergency packs of furniture.

The walk started at Tintwistle in the north and Tideswell in the south of High Peak and met in the middle at Whaley Bridge on Sunday.

So far, the group has raised more than £1,300.

The primary objective of the initiative was to not only raise crucial funds, but also to generate local awareness about the vital, yet often unnoticed, assistance provided by Glossopdale Furniture Project to individuals and families in need across the towns and villages of the High Peak.

Behind the scenes, Glossopdale Furniture Project has been working tirelessly to support those in need by supplying them with essential items required to establish a comfortable and nurturing home environment.

Glossopdale Furniture Project is a charitable organisation committed to assisting individuals and families in need within the High Peak area. Alongside providing a wide range of affordable, pre-loved and upcycled furniture, the project focuses on addressing the often-hidden issue of basic comfort and warmth in homes.

Over the past year alone, the project has collaborated with numerous agencies, including various Derbyshire County Council departments, the Probation Service, Crossroads, and P3 Charity, to help more than 150 households.

Beds, bedding, sofas, fridges, microwaves, and other electrical goods were provided to these families, often at little or no cost.

This core aspect of their work is made possible through a combination of revenue generated from the sales at their George Street shop and Pikes Lane warehouse, as well as other dedicated fundraising activities.

Glossopdale Furniture Project has extended an invitation to the community to contribute to their charitable mission.

By supporting the project through the purchase or donation of good quality furniture, individuals can actively prevent wastage and minimise the burden on landfill while making a tangible difference in the lives of those in need.
