Girl taken to hospital after being hit by car in Simmondley

Police, a land ambulance and an air ambulance were called to the scene.

A girl was taken to hospital with a suspected broken ankle after being hit by a car in Simmondley. 

Police rushed to Pennine Road at around 6.25pm on Thursday evening (6 July) following reports of a collision involving a child and a car. 

Ambulance crews were also called, including an air ambulance which landed on the fields off nearby Simons Walk. 

A spokesperson for Derbyshire Constabulary said the driver stopped and has been spoken to by officers, while there were no arrests. 

The age of the girl has not been disclosed by police but it is understood she is a pupil at Simmondley Primary School. 

The incident happened close to the junction with Werneth Road and Dingle Close. 

A section of Pennine Road was closed for a period whilst emergency services responded.
