GALLERY: Good causes given boost by bonfire funds

A whopping £20,000 was raised from last year’s bonfire and fireworks display, which has been donated to a number of good causes in the area.

Glossop and District Round Table held its annual presentation evening at Tintwistle Athletic’s West Drive football centre last week.

Every year, the voluntary club for men aged 18 to 45 organise Glossop’s bonfire and fireworks extravaganza in Manor Park and the proceeds are distributed back into the local community.

A wide variety of local charities, community groups, voluntary organisations, schools, sports clubs and other causes received funds which were gratefully received by representatives on the night.

There were also thought-provoking presentations from The Bureau in Glossop, men’s mental health charity Mentell and Hadfield charity Mummy’s Star.

It was also announced that the Round Table will be holding a music and food festival in Glossop from Friday 26 to Sunday 28 May.

High Peak Mayor Councillor Ollie Cross and High Peak Borough Council leader Councillor Anthony Mckeown were among those in attendance, while Glossop-based Mettrick’s Butchers provided food for everyone to enjoy.

The full list of beneficiaries from the 2022 Glossop bonfire and fireworks are:

Army Cadets; Barty Foodbank; Bradbury Community House; Crossroads Derbyshire; Dinting Explorer Scouts; Gamesley G52; Glossop Age Concern; The Bureau; Glossop District Scouts; Glossop Guides; Glossop Mountain Rescue Team; Glossop Community Club; Glossopdale Foodbank; Hadfield Coming Together; Hadfield Community Bowling Club; Hadfield Cricket Club; Hadfield Infants; Hadfield Nursery School; Haywire Animal Sanctuary; Hollingworth Juniors; Hummingbird Hub; Mentell; Mummy’s Star; PCrefurb; People of Whitfield; Sandwich Angels; St Andrews Junior School; Tintwistle Athletic; Tintwistle Band.
