GALLERY: Children's Gala returns in Tintwistle

There were lots of new activities for people of all ages to enjoy this year, at the 103rd edition of the Tintwistle Children's Gala.

Some of the highlights for the hundreds in attendance included a 26ft climbing wall, a giant football dart board, birds of prey and archery.

This was in addition to some of the regular features such as Evolution martial arts, a dancing display, Arnfield Brass Band, the popular High Peak Paws dog show, fancy dress, Haywill Animal Rescue, a penalty shootout, the emergency services, children’s races and characters Marshall & Chase, Buzz Lightyear, Woody and Hey Duggie, as well as many stalls from local organisations.

The organisers would particularly like to thank the support of High Peak Borough Council, the UK Government Shared Prosperity Fund, along with support from councillors Rob Baker and Becki Woods to fund new activities, which help to keep the tradition of community events, especially in rural areas, going.

On the day, High Peak MP Robert Largan helped to judge the dog show, whilst High Peak Mayor Cllr Peter Inman presented the medals to the winners of the children's races.

Jill Crossland, on behalf of the Children’s Gala Committee, said: "The committee would also like to thank all the wonderful volunteers, many being coaches, parents or players of Tintwistle Athletic, along with some residents who managed the activities on the day.

"Finding volunteers is becoming increasingly more difficult and we really look forward to welcoming new ideas from anyone that wants to see the gala continue, when we hold a gala meeting in September."
