GALLERY: All the fun of Glossop Carnival 2023

Hoardes of people flocked to Glossop Carnival over the weekend for rides, stalls and fun for all of the family.

Organisers GALA (Glossop Arts and Leisure Association) were pleased with how the two-day event in Manor Park went.

Secretary Jean Ratcliffe, on behalf of the committee, told the Chronicle: "Whilst the weather was a bit mixed (it could have been kinder to us), the weekend went very well. It was well attended and everyone appeared to be having a good time."

There was plenty going on across the weekend to entertain carnival goers, which included High Peak Mayor Cllr Peter Inman and local MP Robert Largan.

Jean continued: "Centre Stage Dance did some great shows on both days and we also had a princess show for the children on Sunday. On Saturday we were also entertained by Regent Big Band.

"We had a good variety of stalls, plus the bar and food outlets and a large fairground - so something for all the family. The RSPCA held their dog show on Saturday. The circus skills arena was kept busy all weekend with children learning new circus skills.

"We would like to thank all those people who were involved in helping to make the weekend a success - the entertainments, stallholders, fairground rides etc. We couldn't do it without them."

Following a short rest, the committee will soon start thinking about planning for next year's event.

GALA might be small in number but they believe in doings things big.

The association is always on the lookout for new members. Anyone interested in getting involved is welcome to call Jean on 07811 526455 for more info.
