A free shuttle bus service has been launched to help passengers in Chapel and Whaley Bridge affected by the road closure in Whaley Bridge.
High Peak Buses started it this week and will run the service until Buxton Road reopens following the completion of bridge replacement works by Network Rail.
Welcoming the service, Whaley Bridge County Councillor Ruth George said: “I joined some very happy passengers this morning, who’d had to take taxis to work last week.
She said: “I hope this helps everyone to get around - and helps our local businesses who need us all to visit.”
The bus is running between Whaley Bridge Rail station, Chapel, and Horwich End, then back again from Whaley Primary. It will stop at all stops along the route, as passengers request and will help passengers link up with other services.
The service operates from 6am to 10pm Monday to Friday and from 8am to 5pm weekends and will help passengers link up with services that have been diverted such as the 199 that runs between Buxton and Manchester Airport.
