Davis Blank Furniss appoints Seán Hackett as Head of Property Litigation team

Davis Blank Furniss - the Glossop based law firm – has named Seán Hackett as a partner and its new Head of Property Litigation.

He will be working closely with the wider Property Group, including Richard Hamilton, Managing Partner and Head of Property, and Rosie Korcz, Commercial Property Partner, as well as the Dispute Resolution team.

Seán has over 20 years’ experience in real estate litigation, landlord and tenant litigation and advisory work. His specialisms include development site constraints and disputes as well as professional negligence claims arising out of property related matters. He also advises on real estate strategies on M&As. He primarily acts for property developers, commercial landlords and tenants and property portfolio owners.

Seán is widely recognised as a formidable property litigator. He has been consistently ranked in both Legal 500 and Chambers and Partners for over 10 years. He is also listed in the Business Today Lawyer Awards 2023 as one of the top 10 influential real estate lawyers in the North West. He regularly acts in high value litigations before the High Court, and he has been before both the Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court.

Before joining Davis Blank Furniss Seán was Head of the Property Litigation Department at Myerson Solicitors and prior to that he was a Director in the Property Litigation team at Pannone Corporate.

“I am delighted to have joined Davis Blank Furniss at what is an exciting time for the business. The firm’s list of commercial clients is impressive and its reputation, particularly within the property industry, is well known. Joining the Property Group - and working alongside top legal talent like Rosie and Richard - was an exciting opportunity which I could not pass on.

Richard Hamilton said: “Seán is a fantastic addition to the firm – his reputation and technical excellence is well known in the property sector. His strong understanding of what clients’ commercial needs are and his ability to add value is what sets him apart from others. We are looking forward to him embedding himself in the firm and growing our property litigation department over the coming years.”
