The 10th anniversary of Glossop Music Festival is set to feature a range of world class events. 

Taking place in May, the Festival aims to bring the highest quality music to the widest possible audience and the range of concerts and events being planned will appeal to a large sector of the community. 

Leader of the Artistic Team, Claire Surman, said: “We are delighted to be putting on such a wonderful selection of concerts and community events in our tenth anniversary year.  

“The Festival has gone from strength to strength in the past decade and we are so grateful to all of our supporters, musicians and audience members for helping us bring such quality music to Glossop. 

“We are excited to be honouring King Charles’ coronation in our closing concert and putting on our first candlelight concert which will be absolutely magical in the stunning surroundings of the Parish Church. We hope you can join us!” 

Highlights of the 2023 Festival include: 

A pop-up gig at Pico Lounge on Thursday 4 May from 8pm - 10pm when Glossop Festival musicians will perform a lively pop-up gig. No need to book, just come along, enjoy some food, drinks and fantastic music to get the Festival started.  

On Friday 5 May, there will be a fun and interactive Family Concert called More Musical Beasts from 5pm - 6pm at St James’ Church, Hollincross Lane, Glossop. 

This is for pre-school and primary school children and will feature performances of The Ugly Duckling and A Donkey’s Tale in costume and from memory. Coffee, juice and cakes will be available from 4.30pm. Tickets are Adults £10, Children £3 with Family Tickets available.  

Later in the evening, there will be Baroque By Candlelight from 7pm - 9.30pm at All Saints Parish Church, Old Glossop. 

The Glossop Festival Orchestra led by virtuoso violinist Sophie Rosa will perform Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons and a selection of beautiful Baroque pieces by Bach and Purcell. Tickets £20 Age 18 and under - free.

It will be followed by a Late Night Concert from 9.30pm - 10.30pm also at All Saints Parish Church, Old Glossop. 

Local legend Sam Partridge and his all-star quintet of folk musicians perform a varied programme exploring the instrumental folk music of England. Tickets £12, Age 18 and under - free.

On Saturday 6 May, Hallé Choral leaders will be leading a fun and inspiring singing workshop from 3pm - 5pm at St James’ Church, Hollincross Lane, Glossop. 

The music will range from classical choral music to contemporary songs and musical theatre! No prior experience is needed for this fantastic community event. Tickets £10 Children aged 12 - 18 free. 

The Festival Orchestra returns for the closing concert, on the day of King Charles’ Coronation, Saturday 6^th May from 7pm - 9.30pm at All Saints Parish Church, Old Glossop.  

The programme will include Mozart’s Coronation Piano Concerto performed by festival favourite Viv McLean and conducted by Chloé van Soerterstède. Tickets £20 Age 18 and under - free.
