Bradbury House issue window plea

Bradbury House is probably one of Glossop's best secrets.

The community house on Market Street is a charity which is open to everyone. It is not affiliated to any religion or organisation.

The original building was condemned and had to be demolished then rebuilt on its original site.

Rooms can be rented there for events. However the building desperately needs new windows.

It is within a conservation area which requires all older buildings to have wooden window frames. However as the building is only 25 years old, they can have uPVC windows, if they are approved by High Peak Borough Council.

But £65,000 needs to be raised to pay for the windows.

Trustee John Dearn told us: “Expenditure of this scale is a major setback and a possible threat to the long term future of the charity. The House finances have been strained over the past few years because of the withdrawal of local authority funding to many of our clients and closures because of Covid-19.

“As a result we’ve been forced to cut back staff hours to make savings wherever possible. There is no slack in the system to absorb the cost of the windows. We are therefore running this appeal for donations in the hope of getting some financial help.”

Anyone who can help is asked to contact Bradbury Community House by calling 01457 880007.
