An 11-year-old boy was punched in the stomach and face by a robber who attempted to steal his phone on Dinting Road in Glossop.

The incident happened at around 3.45pm on Thursday afternoon (20 October) near to the bridge just before Dinting train station.

The boy managed to run off and nothing was taken.

Police say enquiries are ongoing to locate the offender, who may have been with a group of people who were nearby at the time of the attempted robbery.

Detectives now want to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time. Of particular interest are any drivers who were driving along either Dinting Lane or the A57 and may have dashcam footage.
