Books of condolence in High Peak for Queen Elizabeth II

The book of condolence at the Municipal Buildings in Glossop.

A number of books of condolence are now available across the High Peak for local residents to sign.

The official High Peak Borough Council books are based at the Municipal Buildings in Glossop and Buxton Town Hall. 

The buildings will be open from 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday and from 9am to 2pm Saturday and Sunday. 

The book of condolence will be available to sign until 5pm on Tuesday 20 September - the day after the funeral of Her Majesty the Queen.

Condolence books are also available to sign at the libraries in Glossop and Buxton during their regular opening hours.

In Tintwistle, a book of condolence is open at Christ Church and residents can lay flowers at Tintwistle war memorial. 

In Gamesley, the Geoffrey Allen Church on Winster Mews is open for anyone wishing to sign a book of condolence, light a candle or spend a few moments in private prayer in memory of the Queen. It's open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10am to midday, and on Saturdays from 1pm to 3pm. 

Padfield Congregational Church opened a book of condolence on Sunday (11 September) for people to add messages. The Chapel will be open in the morning on Sundays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays and the book will remain open until the official national period of mourning ends. Everyone is welcome to come into the chapel to add a message and take time to pray or reflect.

Meanwhile, flags at Buxton Town Hall and Hadfield Hall, at Norfolk Square in Glossop and in Manor Park and the Pavilion Gardens continue to fly at half-mast. 

Anyone wishing to lay flowers, or leave candles and messages, and the grassed areas on the Slopes in front of Buxton Town Hall and in Norfolk Square have been made available for people to do that. 

Chapel Parish Council is asking people to leave their tributes at the war memorial in the Market Place and the Town Council in New Mills have made the grassed area in front of the Town hall available. 

A reading of the accession proclamation of King Charles III took place in both Glossop and Buxton on Sunday afternoon (11 September).
