Warning about highway works at Broadbottom bridge

Besthill Bridge in Broadbottom.

Highway works at Besthill Bridge in Broadbottom begin this week and are due to last for six weeks.

The works will start on site on Monday (14 February) and is expected to last until 27 March.

Tameside Council say the works are to amend the kerb lines on the approaches to the bridge between Broadbottom and Charlesworth, which will improve the highway alignment to the bridge and provide protection to the bridge parapets.

The bridge will be closed over the weekend of Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 March to through traffic in order to enable the safe installation of the kerbs on the Broadbottom side of the bridge.

The council say that traffic flow across the bridge will be maintained at all other times and apologise for any inconvenience the works may cause.

It's expected that there will be delays on the route and heavier than usual traffic on Mottram Moor, Woolley Lane, Brookfield and Dinting Vale.
