A former travel and tourism student has headed back to Tameside College to talk about her career success and the world of work.

Katieann Tracy, a former East Manchester Academy student, who is now employed by airline Virgin Atlantic, visited travel and tourism students at the Ashton-based college.

Katieann discussed her role as a personal holiday adviser for Virgin Atlantic at Manchester Airport, the range of career opportunities in the industry and the recruitment process.

During her visit, she also took part in the college’s work experience fair, providing information about the airline industry.

Founded by entrepreneur Richard Branson, Virgin Atlantic is one of the leading airlines in the world, with job roles at the company highly sought after. Katieann is now hoping to become a member of the airline’s air cabin crew, once this year’s recruitment cycle begins.

Beth Flanagan, travel and tourism teacher at Tameside College, said: “I am extremely grateful to Katieann for coming back to the college to pass on her knowledge of the industry and skills.

“She has done extremely well to secure a position with Virgin Atlantic and I hope that her experience will inspire our current and future students to think about where the industry can take them. Congratulations on her achievements.”
