Tameside Libraries have a packed programme for half-term

Theatre, reading, drawing, science and even yoga combine in an exciting programme of activities put together by Tameside Libraries and Culture for the February half-term.

On Monday (21 February), author and illustrator JC Perry will be at Denton Library from 2pm to 2.45pm and 3.15pm to 4pm to read a story and lead a draw-along. It's ideal for four to eight year olds but older children are welcome.

Later in the week, there are two story-themed yoga sessions for the whole family to enjoy. You don't need to be super fit to take part, just be prepared to arrive with a willing spirit.

'The Hungry Caterpillar' is at Droylsden Library, in Guardsman Tony Downes House, on Wednesday (23 February) from 9.30am to 10.30am and 11am to midday.

'Rapunzel' follows at Hattersley Library, The Hub, Stockport Road on Friday (25 February) from 9.30am to 10.30am and 11am to midday.

If you fancy a visit to Portland Basin Museum in Ashton, make sure you take a look at the 'Food Glorious Food' exhibition which has a super yummy family-friendly trail just for half-term.

Don't forget 'Hats Off to Denton' - a town centre sculpture trail celebrating Denton's long association with the hatting industry.

Each hat is a unique creation painted by a local artist with many inspired by schools and community groups.

Councillor Leanne Feeley, Tameside Council's executive member with responsibility for culture, said: "As usual, our culture and libraries teams have come up with an exciting programme of events for the school holiday.

"There really is so much to see and do. Whatever your interests, there's something for the whole family to enjoy."
