Regimental memories and more

The Tameside Local Studies and Archive Centre have created a pictorial history of the Manchester Regiment.

Entitled ‘Military Manoeuvres’ it uses material from the archive collection and gives a brief history of the regiment and where they served around the world.

You can watch the hour-long video at https://www.tameside.gov.uk/archives

Although the centre in Ashton is closed, the archive service continues to answer enquiries. Plus you can still search the centre’s online image archive, or find information about the archives at https://tamesidesop.wordpress.com/

The service is also keen to document people’s experiences of how life has changed over the last 12 months due to Covid-19.

If you would be interested in contributing your story you can find out how online at https://www.tameside.gov.uk/archives
