Prince's Trust team in Tameside takes the initiative

The Prince's Trust project is up and running again in Tameside, with the Hyde Team 27 recently completing one of their main projects at Ashton's Infinity Initiatives.

The new course, involving nine young people, is the first intake after Covid in the 20th year Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) has been running the programme with the Prince’s Trust.

Sarah Quinn, team manager for Hyde Prince’s Trust, said: “The young people on Hyde Team 27 worked hard for two weeks improving the basement at Infinity.

“They have been busy sanding and cleaning walls, filling holes, clearing rubbish, painting the walls and ceiling of the two basement rooms and stairs, plus staining pallet wood and making a wall of pallet wood.”

TEAM WORKS: The Hyde Team 27 also raised £140 for Infinity Initiatives through a sponsored challenge staged at Hyde Fire Station, presenting the money to the charity and congratulated by The Civic Mayor of Tameside Cllr Janet Cooper.

The team are just over half way through the 12-week Team Programme, which is a personal development and employability programme for 16-25-year-old unemployed young people who are not in education or training, and is run by Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service at Hyde Fire Station.

Young people who would like to join the next programme can text their name, age and postcode to 07580 698 595 and the team will be in touch.
