Police hunting for man on suspicion of murder in Mossley

John Belfield.

Police are hunting for a man who is urgently wanted on suspicion of the murder of Thomas Campbell in Mossley.

Mr Campbell was found dead at a property on Riverside on 3 July and an investigation was launched.

John Belfield, 28, is wanted in connection with Mr Campbell's death and police believe he is a 'dangerous individual'.

He is from the Openshaw area and believed to also have links to Lancashire, but could be anywhere in the country.

Police issued three images of Belfield on Monday morning (22 August).

A GMP spokesperson said: "Do not approach Belfield and if you see him call 999. We are actively seeking his arrest and ask that anyone with information about his whereabouts contacts us immediately.

"Anyone who knows Belfield, and may be withholding information, is reminded that assisting a suspect can lead to a prison sentence of up to 10 years."

Three people have so far been charged with conspiracy to murder.

Police say Mr Campbell's family are being kept updated whilst being supported by specialist officers.

Anyone with information should contact police on 0161 856 6377 or using GMP’s LiveChat facility on https://crowd.in/b8GoOi or alternatively Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
