A man was taken to hospital after he was assaulted and his motorbike was stolen on a road in Hyde.

Greater Manchester Police said they were called to Mottram Road at around 11.25am on Thursday afternoon (24 March) to a report of a disturbance.

A spokesperson for GMP said a motorcyclist was assaulted and his motorbike was taken.

He was then taken to hospital by ambulance.

Local residents on social media reported a large police presence in the area and the road was closed for around an hour.

Police say enquiries are ongoing. Anyone with information or dash cam footage is asked to report it online at www.gmp.police.uk or alternatively contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
