Man charged in Tameside murder inquiry

Investigation continues and anyone with information is urged to contact the police.

A man has been charged with conspiracy to commit the murder of Thomas Campbell in Mossley earlier this month.

The 38-year-old was found dead at an address on Riverside at around 10.30am on Sunday, July 3.

Despite the best efforts of emergency services, he was pronounced dead at the scene and a murder investigation was launched.

Stephen Cleworth, 37, of Charles Street, Heywood, has been charged with conspiracy to commit murder. He appeared at Manchester Magistrates yesterday (Monday) and has been remanded until his next appearance on August 15 at Manchester Crown Court.

A 31-year-old who was arrested on suspicion of murder on July 7 has been released without charge.
