Growing Together at St George's in Hyde

Pupils at St George's CofE Primary School in Hyde have played an active part in this year's Children's Mental Health Week.

The theme this year was ‘Growing Together’ and the children spent time thinking about the things that they would like to get better at and how this can sometimes be tricky, requiring resilience and perseverance.

The school launched the week with a ‘Dress to Express’ day where the children wore clothes to express their mood, favourite things or favourite colours.

They spent the week engaging in activities that promote positive mental health and wellbeing through the Five Ways to Wellbeing - BE Active, Notice, Give, Connect, Keep Learning. They also learnt new ways to relax in the classes - breathing exercises, yoga, meditation, and mindfulness activities.

As part of Children’s Mental Health Week, Year 3 had a ‘cosmic’ time relaxing with yoga and stretching their muscles.

While Year 2 learnt all about relaxing techniques and taking time to be mindful.

Year 4 children made stress balls using a balloon and rice and Reception loved meditating together and relaxing with blankets as well as taking part in outside exercises.
