Dukinfield teen fundraises for disability charity changing lives

A Dukinfield teenager is raising money for the disability charity funding her life-changing wheelchair.

Seventeen-year-old Shuhaney Lad is a student at Ashton Sixth Form College. She has Cerebral Palsy, which means she’s unable to walk independently.

To allow her to sit, stand, recline and move around unaided, the charity Caudwell Children is funding a £15,500 wheelchair after Shuhaney’s Mum, Jaya, applied to the charity for help.

The chair will arrive before the end of the year and take Shuhaney one step closer to achieving her dreams of becoming a counsellor or Speech and Language Therapist.

She has also become a Caudwell Children ambassador, helping to raise awareness of the work the charity does to support disabled young people and their families.

Shuhaney added: “Caudwell Children is an amazing charity that helps children to overcome barriers in their lives – including me. I was struggling to do many day-to-day activities before they helped fund a stand-up wheelchair.

“That’s why I’m raising money to thank Caudwell Children for their incredible support. So please support this brilliant charity so that they can help even more young people across the UK.”
