Denton man saves young girl during act of bravery

A 20-year-old man from Denton has been hailed a hero after bravely stepping up to save a young girl this week.

When Jamie Renshaw was driving through Denton with his friends, a horror sight emerged as he noticed a young girl holding tightly to a bridge.

Before he was able to realise his actions, Jamie left the car and ran to her side, grabbing her and saving her from the fall.

Managing to detain her until police arrived, Jamie felt his instinctual behaviour rise to the surface.

“It all happened so fast, and I couldn’t quite believe what had happened when I got back to the car.

“You hear of so many people attempting things like this now, it is so important that people get the help that they need,” Jamie explained.

Training in the marines, the Denton resident believed the skills he has learnt have helped to prepare him for this moment.

Feeling thankful that he was in the right place at the right time and currently on leave, Jamie said he received great thanks from the young girl’s mother and hopes she is getting the help she needs.
