Audenshaw £1 million Lottery winner pledges to pamper her pooch

A cleaner from Audenshaw has scooped a £1 million lottery win, and she's pledged to spend the winnings pampering her beloved pooch.

Kimberley Arrandale, who celebrated her 50th birthday earlier this week, says she is experiencing a roller-coaster of emotions as she tries to come to terms with the fact she is now a millionaire – and it isn’t all a dream!

She said: “I really can’t quite believe that this has happened to someone like me! I am just a normal person who has worked hard all my life to pay the bills and look after my kids. It just feels like a dream – I have to keep pinching myself and telling myself I really have won one million pounds!

“My emotions are just swinging from feeling overly excited, to feeling sick, to disbelief and then pure joy!”

Kimberley and her husband, Bob, 60, say their first purchase is going to be a special harness with wheels for their 15-year-old Yorkshire Terrier, Mr Bobby Boo.

She added: “Mr Bobby Boo is getting old and is struggling.

“His hips have failed and he really cannot get around very easily and without our help.

“If there is one thing I can now do with this amazing amount of money – it is to ensure Mr Bobby Boo has a life of comfort for the rest of his days.

“I will be buying him the best set of dog wheels money can buy to hopefully make life so much more comfortable for him – and this will bring me and Bob so much joy too.”

Meanwhile, Bob said he has his sights set on a new car, potentially a BMW, but insists his wife’s win won’t change him or the family.

The couple have already treated themselves to a very special 50th birthday celebration for Kimberley this week - a champagne afternoon tea at home!

“People like us don’t normally get to drink champagne on their birthday – we have never bought a bottle of champagne in our life.

“But thanks to my win we really are able to experience lots of new things – and things which we could only ever dream of doing before.”

Kimberley, who discovered she had won after checking her numbers on line, said she initially thought she had just won £1,000.

She added, “I just could not absorb all of the zeros and I had to actually take a picture of the screen to double convince myself that what I was seeing was true and it was £1,000,000 and I wasn’t just imagining it.”

Kimberley says she doesn’t plan to give up her job as a cleaner just yet – something she loves – but is looking forward to giving their own home some tender loving care – and getting a new bathroom.

She continued, “Neither of us has any desire to move house at the moment – we love where we live. But this win will enable us to invest in our home, give it some tender loving care and get it to just how we want it.”

The couple, who have two teenage children, say looking after the family will also be a top priority, together with a trip to the Bahamas when it is safe to travel.

Kimberley matched 5 balls and the Bonus Ball to win £1,000,000 on Lotto on 30th January. The winning Lotto ticket was bought from Kevin’s Newsagent in Chapel Street, Audenshaw, Greater Manchester. The winning Lotto numbers for the draw on Saturday 30 January, 2021 were 4, 28, 31, 36, 51, 55 and the Bonus Ball was 42.

In the current situation, The National Lottery is encouraging everyone to check their tickets online at national-lottery.co.uk or by downloading the National Lottery app, and to only buy or check their tickets in retail in line with government guidance. Playing online via the website or app means that your ticket is checked, and you get an email notification if you win a prize. You can also scan your retail tickets on the National Lottery app to check if you're a winner.

By playing any National Lottery game, players help to raise an average of £30M every week for National Lottery Good Causes across the UK. This money helps support arts, community and charity, heritage, education, environment and the sport sectors – everything from the local charity making a difference where you live through to helping our nation’s athletes win Olympic and Paralympic gold medals. To date, more than £42BN has been raised and distributed to National Lottery Good Causes through more than 625,000 individual grants.
