Ashton mural set to become a tourist attraction

Ashton has a stunning new tourist attraction after famous Street artist Akse_P19 painted a mural on the Sitsiam Camp's building at Whitelands Industrial Estate.

It is the first Street art by the renowned artist to be created in the Tameside area.

Amongst Akse_P19’s famous paintings is the portrait of Manchester United footballer Marcus Rashford.

This new artwork depicts Kru Steven Moore from the Sitsiam Camp in traditional Muay Thai attire.

The mural can be viewed from the Huddersfield Narrow Canal at the rear of the Sitsiam Camp’s building.

The work of art will be celebrated with an official opening day on Saturday 11 June at midday, when the painting will be officially ‘unveiled’ for public view.

The artwork is intended to be an icon landmark for people walking or travelling by barge along the canal.
